Welcome to Peninsula Camera Club

Our Mission – Peninsula Camera Club began in 1956 to encourage, foster, promote, and advance photography in all its facets through joint effort and participation of all members. The club has a high commitment to both social activities, teaching, learning and competitive aspects of photography. Club members are encouraged to participate in all forms of photography, including and not limited to prints, digital imaging, audio visual, club competitions, national and international exhibitions, social activities, events & interactive outings.

Our Vision – Peninsula Camera Club’s vision is to encourage growth of artistic vision and technical knowledge by;

  • Creating a welcoming and friendly environment where all members and visitors are welcome and appreciated.
  • Creating a platform for all members from beginners to experts to share their work in a formal environment through monthly competitions as well as in an informal and social environment where the emphasis is on sharing and discussion, rather than competition.
  • Creating a system where members with diverse experience and skills can interact, learn, and share. Not only from each other, but also through formal channels such as the Photographic Society of Queensland (PSQ), Australian Photographic Society (APS) and leading photographers in the photographic industry.
  • Providing opportunities through workshops, outings, and teaching to gain experience and build a portfolio with a wide variety of subject matter.
  • Fostering a culture of working together as club members to promote photography and Peninsula Camera Club to a wider audience.

February Set Subject

A clarification has been received from Rae from Aspley CC for the February 2021 Set Subject Frame Your Image
“You can use a composite image, altered reality or creative.  Every part of the image must be taken through the camera lens.  There are no other restrictions”
For the record, the original definition is:
“Put a frame around your image. For example, photograph through a window or trees etc. and leave the window frame and tree in the photograph. The image should be framed on three or four sides. You must photograph the frame. It is not acceptable to use a computer-generated frame or border.”

2021 Individual Entries sheet

The 2021 Entries sheet is now available for download. It has been modified for this year to remove the member code but you still need to fill out your name on the 1st sheet titled “DATA”. Although we are moving to My Photo Club for our competitions you will still need to fill this out, both for your own records, and to supply to the Print/PDI Coordinator at End Of Year.

The Excel template can be downloaded from the “Club Documents” in the “2021 Competition Set Subjects, Definitions & Forms” section and is listed as “2021 Members Personal Entry Record”

by John Quixley, 15 November 2020

The Results are in…

For this year only we will be breaking with our Club tradition…

We will not be holding our usual End of Year Awards presentation.
Instead, we will be announcing all Club Awards following the End of Year display this Friday night 13/11/2020.
The associated trophies will be presented at an event early next year as decided by the incoming Management Committee.

I hope many members will be able to attend our first night back in 8 months at the club to congratulate all of our winners in person.
Entry is free but please remember to bring your own refreshments. The kitchen won’t be operating on the night and we will not be holding a raffle.
Arrive any time after 7pm for a 7.30pm start
